From empirio to empirio.ai – Everything you need to know about the transition

We’ve completely overhauled our survey tool. empirio is becoming empirio.ai – with new AI features, a modern design, and lots of functions you’ve been asking for over the past few years. In this article, you’ll find out exactly what’s changing, what will happen to the old platform, and how to switch if you’re an existing user.

Why empirio is becoming empirio.ai

empirio has been around since 2018 – originally as a tool for students who wanted to run surveys for their bachelor’s or master’s thesis. Over the last few years, it has become much more than that: companies, schools, universities, and associations now use empirio on a regular basis. With every new target group, new requirements have come along.

Instead of rebuilding empirio bit by bit, we decided to develop a completely new platform: empirio.ai. It’s modern from the ground up, significantly more powerful, and includes many features that could no longer be added to the old empirio – above all AI-powered tools that make creating, editing, and analyzing surveys easier.

The most important thing first: empirio.ai is the further development of empirio. You keep everything you liked about empirio – and at the same time get a modern platform with many new possibilities.

What’s new in empirio.ai

empirio.ai is a standalone survey platform, not just a visual refresh. These are the most important changes:

AI-assisted creation. Describe in one sentence what you want to find out – the AI will build a complete questionnaire for you with suitable question types, a logical order, and a welcome and closing page.

AI assistant in the editor. Instead of painstakingly changing questions by hand, you simply tell the AI what to do: “Add 5 questions about work–life balance” or “Make the answers shorter.” The change happens with a single click.

Automatic translations. Entire questionnaires can be translated into other languages at the push of a button – ideal for international surveys.

AI-powered analysis. The AI summarizes open-text responses, categorizes them, and answers your questions about the results via chat – instead of you having to read through 200 open responses manually.

Modern templates. We’ve created professional templates for the most common use cases: from employee surveys and customer feedback to academic research. All templates are customizable and look good on any device.

Team collaboration. You can invite other people to your surveys and work together on questionnaires, designs, and analyses – something many of you have been asking for.

What will happen to empirio.de

empirio.de will remain online for the time being. You can still use it to access your existing surveys, collect responses, and view analyses. What will change, however, is this: we will no longer actively develop empirio.de. New features will only be added to empirio.ai.

Important to know: Direct login on empirio.de is no longer possible as of now. From now on, you always log in via empirio.ai. Once you’re logged in there, you’ll find a prominently placed link in the dashboard that takes you to the old empirio world – for example, to manage your existing surveys or view older analyses.

In other words: one login, two worlds. You don’t have to remember two separate accounts and still keep full access to everything you created on empirio.de.

If community feedback on empirio.ai remains positive, we will shut down most functions of empirio.de on January 31, 2027. Until then, all users will have enough time to complete their ongoing surveys or switch to empirio.ai.

Our recommendation: try empirio.ai with your next survey. That way, you can get to know the new features step by step without having to interrupt ongoing projects.

What will happen to my existing surveys?

Your existing surveys from empirio.de will remain fully available – including all responses collected so far and all analyses. You can still access them via the link in your empirio.ai dashboard.

There is no automatic transfer of surveys to empirio.ai. There’s a good reason for that: empirio.ai is a standalone platform with a different data structure. A 1:1 migration would lead to losses in many places – designs, logic, or certain question types wouldn’t be converted cleanly. We prefer a clean separation over a half-baked migration.

If you want to continue a survey from empirio on empirio.ai, you can simply recreate it there. The AI creation helps you by letting you briefly describe the content of your old survey – the new version will be ready in just a few seconds.

I already have an empirio Plus subscription – what now?

If you have a paid Plus membership on empirio.de, nothing will change for you at first. Your subscription will remain active – you can still access it by logging in on empirio.ai and then switching to the old empirio world via the dashboard link. However, we want to make the move to the new platform as easy as possible for you:

Monthly membership: In your dashboard on empirio.de, you’ll find a voucher that lets you try the new Plus package on empirio.ai at a discounted rate. Just log in, switch to the old world, and check your dashboard.

Annual membership: Send us a short email at info@empirio.ai – we’ll be happy to transfer your active membership to empirio.ai. That way, you won’t pay twice and can start using the new features as soon as you switch.

How to get started with empirio.ai

The switch only takes a few minutes:

1. Go to empirio.ai and sign up with the email address you used on empirio.de, or create a completely new account.
2. Try the new AI creation – just describe in one sentence what you want to find out.
3. If you want to access existing surveys from empirio.de, simply use the dashboard link that takes you to the old world.
